This Feature SAVES you SPACE

3 minute read

When you move your files to an online cloud solution, what tends to happen is files are both on your computer or online. This storage solution can eat into your file storage that would be used for your applications.

Another scenario is keeping your files online but not having them available on your computer. Great idea for saving space, but what about when you need access to files away from an internet connection?

A feature in Office 365 is called "Files on Demand" for OneDrive and SharePoint files. This allows you to only download files that you work on. This will save space on your computer and reduce the number of files you sync up or down from Office 365.

Here is status info about colour coding
• Dark Green - Always keep offline
• Light Green - Sync if opened or updated
• Blue Cloud - Keep file online

In January 2019, this feature is available on Apple Mac computers. Previously only available on Microsoft Windows, this means you no longer have to worry about staff using a Windows or Mac device.

Like emails you can work offline and when you have access to an internet connection, you can sync up all the changes back to Office 365.

Making it easier for staff to work is our aim. More features are released and we create more videos to help you. Points 3 and 4 in the video extend on the information in this post.

No more workarounds required to work remotely and no more emailing files to yourself. If you would like to utilise this feature, please speak to a member of our team on 01489 290 001. You can also drop us an email.
